About Us
Birchwood Health Care Center was built in 1964 and accommodates our Long-Term Care, Memory Care, and Short-Term Rehabilitation areas. In 2003, we added Birchwood Arbors which accommodates our Assisted Living area. The Birchwood community serves the Forest Lake and surrounding areas by providing a full spectrum of services in a warm and personal setting which focuses on dignity, value of life, and the comfort of our clients.
In the spring of 2007 Birchwood was purchased by Senior Care Communities Inc. (SCC). SCC is a Minnesota based non-profit organization created in 1995 to develop and maintain quality senior housing and senior services. Senior Care Communities owns more than 1,000 units of assisted living apartments, skilled nursing beds, memory care units and long-term rehabilitation units/beds throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan areas, as well as surrounding areas. The communities employ more than 1,200 workers—270 at Birchwood alone—in addition to contracting for services within the local cities we serve.
Senior Care Communities is made up of an active five-member board comprised of individuals with expertise in real estate management and development, marketing, financing, community involvement, and government administration.
The transition from the sale was basically seamless mainly because SCC and Birchwood have always carried similar philosophies: The health, well-being, and happiness of those we serve are always our top priority!
